McGinty started his business in 1945 serving trucking companies along Houston's docks. By 1946 he was beginning to supply truck shops with parts. To warehouse his growing inventory, he purchased an old building in the heart of what was then the "freight yards". Today the freight yards have moved, but Stasco is still on Rothwell just north of downtown. Over 60 years after J.W. McGinty began his business, Stasco is still growing strong. Utility companies, construction companies, waste disposal companies, city public works, county road and bridge departments, and freight lines count on us to be their partners.
